Clean-MEM Membrane
Membrane filtration is a technique for the physical separation of suspended or dissolved materials by molecular weight and size. Filtration can be done using cross-flow or dead-end techniques and the membrane can be design for a submerged or pressurised orientation.
Application
Clean-MEM systems can be applied to surface waters (river, channel and reservoir) for clarification and pathogen rejection for drinking water. Clean-MEM systems have also been applied to secondary effluent re-use schemes.
The Clean-MEM’s submerged hollow fibre membranes design offers many advantages over pressure membrane systems;
Adaptability
The Clean-MEM system is a negatively pressured, submerged ultrafiltration system, which allows the membranes to be able to be placed into existing tanks and also easily removed for maintenance or replacement.
Expandability
The design of the Clean-MEM system allows it to be easily expandable as the demand increases. The simplicity of this system ensures that modules can be easily added with minimal changes in the original design and, hence, minimal cost.
Efficiency
The Clean-MEM systems are designed to run at optimum flux rates specific for the waste stream. They allow lower energy consumption than standard pressurised filters.
Maintainability
The operation and design of the Clean-MEM system ensures that maintenance requirements are kept minimal and the life of the membranes are maximised.
