Resource Recovery/Dewatering

The unique Salsnes Filter is a low capital cost, self-contained primary and secondary treatment system that continuously removes suspended solids greater than 200 micron. The sludge produced is comparatively dry at 40% solids by weight and allows for ease of solids handling and disposal. The filter is pre-engineered With domestic sewage for example, 60-90% of the BOD is in the form of suspended solids. By removing the solids in the filtering process, a reduction in BOD of up to 80% is possible in the effluent stream.

The system is ideally suited for applications in both municipal and industrial wastewater treatment plants.

An important advantage of the Salsnes Filter is the ability to increase the capacity of existing treatment plant by up to 50%. Retro fitting a Salsnes Filtering System can be done with a minimal of plant modifications. Treating the wastewater quickly and eliminating collection points in the process avoids the need for anaerobic digestion that causes odours. The overall effect is a dramatic reduction in odour generation as compared to traditional sewage treatment processes.
